Throughout the years, his undergrad in English/creative writing and an MFA in creative writing, Jacob has learned that writing advice and writing rules are an often hotly discussed topic. Advice and rules are thrown around like a kind of gospel, often without context or nuance.
In reality, writing advice is varied and oftentimes, like the rules, should simply be ignored. Art is not one-size-fits-all and advice shouldn’t be either.
Inspired by conversations he has had on Threads, the social media app, Pulling the Thread is a kind of anti-advice column. A place where Jacob talks about a variety of different topics, related to writing, art, and life. Look for a new column on the first Tuesday of the month.
